Bid me goodbye in slow motion!

Your love is only an exchange Your poems are for value changed A wolf in chains A bleeding hand This story To the mainland You wanted to know how I got there? From these chains I made a blade And it sings through the air But what does a song mean to a soldier? When I do believe That this is our lot I repress the alternative It worked for millions, they forgot It's simple really Duty is itself the price Or they would have volunteered The gods would not have suspended me

I was dropped by the riverside As a boy with a note that read This will grow to be a fine young girl And though I could barely speak I took the note to heart Brought it to my chest next to the wires That made me start And so when I was little On the riverbank with new parents I dressed in stockings and skirts And I was beaten in the rushes And they told me None of that will come to pass Rescued you from certain death You owe us at least that It's only the note That guides what I learn It's only what you wrote In the haze of the forgotten Back by the riverside I dream of starlit pillars Dressed in waterfalls and cosmic patterns The folly of a child Weary, knackered and wild Address to uncle We haven't seen in years It's only the note That guides what I learn It's only what you wrote In the haze of the forgotten Who wrote to uncle I am only wires I am barely people any more I am merely tired Of barely moral people any more I am only wires I am barely people any more You're a liar No point beating around the rushes

I could be your friend That you haven't quite met yet And in the mainland We'll know everything we said I wouldn't be your lover yet Just a kindness, a kind of heaven sent And in the mainland We'll know everything we said Let's watch black holes burn and let's hold hands Let's lie on our backs and trace nightmares Dancing in the wake of a galaxy burning A spiral in each eye and a glimpse of eternity They say, I'm a good friend I'm made from matter but I'm all pneumatic And the Mainland knows it It's waiting, for us I'll have a drink, you'll have two We dance in the halflight of an empty room And we'll forget what's yet to come Oh, the Mainland has its fun Let's watch black holes burn and let's hold hands Let's lie on our backs and trace nightmares Dancing in the wake of a galaxy burning A spiral in each eye and a glimpse of eternity I don't know where you've been I don't know where you've been all along But I never liked the dark I could be your friend And we'll restart each time, past the distant end But the Mainland Knows you're immaterial again In plain sight Let's watch black holes burn and let's hold hands Let's lie on our backs and trace neutron stars Dancing in the wake of a star system burning An arc in each eye and a glimpse of eternity I don't know where you've been And everything is a mess out here but I'm fine I don't know where you've been all along But I never liked the dark

So I spoke with agreement Like any good soldier does A paragon of justice Like every good soldier was And where I drew my unfatigued torment The river of my own blood All of the law is a hand All of the ghosts of the land Are those who did not agree With menial divinity So where do we land How do I break my fall Where is your hand? For you, I return Illimitable, since there is nothing before it to limit it Unfathomable, since there is nothing before it to fathom it Immeasurable, since there was nothing before it to measure it Invisible, since nothing has seen it Eternal, since it exists eternally Unutterable, since nothing could comprehend it to utter it Unnamable, since there is nothing before it to give it a name And that's all we have (So we named it) So I spoke the words So I am the son of Sophia This is all we will ever learn (But love is dead and dust) All of the law is a hand All of the ghosts of the land Are those who did not agree With menial divinity

Look upon the dirt and despair Look upon your shadow's shadow What would it feel like to just keep falling Just to keep dreaming, forever barely holy What would it be like to know how fast you die We drink our way through a sky laid on a sky I looked into the sun And my body fell flat We climb up high And rage the days away, away, away Brother I'm so sorry I did accept the great disguise Mistaking the wolf for the trees Futility, an ugly surprise What would it feel like to just keep falling? Just to keep dreaming, forever barely holy To take apart your hands by the lines Strip them open a piece at a time I can see it surfacing I just know it's closing in Just this once I want to live But better life, but better the climb To take apart your hands at the seams Strip them open to a star in a dream So don't wait for me Please don't wait for me I'll see you in the Mainland And it's not so bad We will fade into the past And the future has its last laugh

I won't answer your questions I won't pass by in the breeze I don't fold under questioning So tell me, which of these, which of these Are you the painter, or the tyrant? Are you the sinner, or the saint? Do you dissolve in briny water? Are you the painter, or the paint? These are your options Think carefully, think twice When the two of you leave for the Mainland The answer will suffice
10.
This must be the place A litany of memories Marked in one location Do you know history? Do you know mortality? Do you know yourself? Do you know the feeling of good health? Do you know how to lose wealth? Do you know multiplicity? Do you want to die? Do you want to die? it began, like most things did back then, with the search engines. Information its own referent! A pseudo-grammatical logic process for finding something based on the characteristics of itself, like looking for someone in a crowd with their clone in your arms. Data quickly spiralled. it was the property of the businesses - for whatever data they didn't own, they grew further dominant over the concept of data itself. then it was the property of the states, the neo leviathans, as golden contracts withered away in the terrible sun. the farmers and the gun owners made their agreements and tapped into cyberspace, where recluse was itself a precious commodity. value began to invert and disperse - English nationalisation reified in the hearts of man, total existential commodity. life was a channel, starting with paid-for labour and ending with a state sponsored bullet to the brain, then your corpse might be scavenged for parts or reanimated for work, depending on the condition. more totalities: fewer people could see or work well under the sun, an event known as total kaleidoscope breakdown. This pushed the disability designation threshold higher and higher, until you had to be disabled to work. of course, this threshold was speculated on. and so was that speculation. and so the busy demons in the shade propagated nothing to infinity, and inevitably found their necks straining upwards, and saw the golden echo of the stars. paradoxically, space travel was made easier by the endless collapse, because all conceivable wealth was found in the pockets of the unhealthily afraid. so they left, and humanity rotted, amidst golden temples they called trees. Earth is now the greatest tomb in the universe, and one tree still stands, a backwards echo of every myth, tempting nothing.
11.
I don't want to know how you're doing, I'm fine It's weird to see a selfless self wanting to try Something that aligns with your internal poetry Something that takes you from dirt to seed to tree So just move on to the next memory It can't get worse anymore we've already seen Everything I was and am supposed to be Do I justify the hate that burns in thee? If in the passing stream I'm too small for you If in the passing breeze I blow towards you When to the Mainland I will go When life provides its final blow I'm sorry for not stopping by more I'm sorry we did not meet properly If in the passing stream I'm too small for you If in the passing breeze I blow towards you Don't tear me apart Distant portraits through fog only a shadow's shadow
12.
And I know, and I will There must be some way out of here And I know, and I will There must be some way out of here Stuck in a moment A heart attack forever A revolutionary technology Pulled you out of his clutches To sustain us together I'll shoot someone just to see you live on Even if I am forgotten and gone What crime am I acquitted of What ghost do I become? What crime am I acquitted of What ghost do I become? Don't wait for me, I'll see you in the Mainland Where this life runs its course Oh, what died? Death itself? Between us? This is what we are Archives for nosy collectors The spirits and what's down there reject us Absolved into material Absolutely inferior I mean all this time Would you really vouch for me Would I really live through the ringing? And what do you hear? In the absence of memory, sound becomes time itself
13.
Pick through these ornaments darling Sellotape the paintings to the wall And build my house, a mouse in A trap in a cage in the darkest place But hear the ringing, Do you hear the ringing? When do you remember? But hear the ringing, Do you hear the ringing? When you do, remember For gods made the universe That's what I'm told And when I grow up it'll be true But not in the way that I want it to be In that he explains the suffering of thee I couldn't be two things at once A myth of myths, oh stuck in myself I was kept human on lover's advice And it failed, and I'm sorry But hear the ringing, Do you hear the ringing? When you do, remember Those acres in the forest where we fucked at night And no one really actually died Bits of her are somewhere else But hear the ringing, Do you hear the ringing? Please, god, remember, We watched her split in two In order to justify I must forget, and survive In order to stay alive For real this time, I must try I could not be your wife I couldn't be a reference my whole life I couldn't be a wife So drag me down the isle, kicking, screaming, Alive! Alive! In order to justify I must forget, and live lies In order to keep alive I must hear your ringing cries
14.
Do you look upon our works, with glee, menace, might? I appreciate that exhuming old tales does little for everly modern life. But it does do for me, see, the will to keep alive, in spite of the bliss of all dying. And if I could just know, then I could just find true euphoria in absolute neither, anti-aufheben, literal-almost-nothing. We snuck in here. We ate forbidden things. The world at once devastated by going on, learning only a thousand stories stop when you blink. So look upon our works, despair, give up, breathe. It’s just a tiny life, in the bliss of all dying.
15.
But this is where I get stuck According to the data logs it's been a billion years But all I remember is a torched black body And a million clues and a path to a door Laced with impossible diamond My fist bleeds but I am through to find out that All I had to do was confess All I must do is confess to you You were born last week, and you died again And when you woke up, you told me You pitiful ghost That I heard every word that this Was so long ago that you weren't me And I wasn't you And a menagerie of exotic dishes Seems to wallpaper the sunset Yes I've stopped the tape, as it were I won't break or hear anymore I didn't end this world, I'm just a space cadet No more money for oxygen and minutes left to live The coldest I've ever been Tell me what to do, my friend! I want to die in slow motion! Beating your head on the edge of reality Disfigured and broken I want to die in slow motion! The hand that feeds the hand so disfigured and broken Bid me goodbye in slow motion! No longer telling my story! I'm telling you!

about

Because you can think of the whole album as an echo of the sun, and because the whole album thinks of itself as the embodiment of the “bliss of all dying”. But also because it sounds cool.
